February 2010 Newsletter

Well here we go again. As you will see we have enclosed out latest schedule, and what a schedule it is. Very Posh. Note also that it is our Golden Anniversary and we can assure you that the rosettes will be stunning.

Must remind you all to rejoin prior to the first show so that all your points will be included for the end of year trophies.

A few new classes in showing a blemished horse/pony class, beginner rider class, M&M Lead Rein. All the rules for these classes are in the back of the schedule, we are trying to include just about every equine and rider. Also our jumping shows now will have two rings, one for the real novices including lead rein and cross pole jumping and the other ring for the seasoned jumpers.

Our show jumps are looking a little tired and could do with a lick of paint so there will be a painting party on Friday and Saturday 9th and 10th April from about 11.00am onwards. All gloves and equipment will be provided as will food and drink. The more people that come along to help the quicker it will be done. We are also purchasing a new set of jumps.

You will see that the photograph on the front cover of the schedule is of my old Henry bless! Who was a stalwart of the club many years ago and the committee kindly voted that it was a good photograph and should go on the cover. He was club champion three years running in the nineties, so for next year's schedule we will put a photograph of the club champion for 2011. This championship will receive the Sports Council award for the horse or pony to have attained the most points in jumping, showing, dressage and cross country overall. The champion should have completed in all four disciplines. Glad I'm not doing the points.

We are also going to have a Dressage clinic probably in May, but we must have an idea of numbers so for those who are interested please telephone Lesley or see me at the first show. Perhaps a jumping clinic and a showing ring craft cline but again unless people show interest they won't go ahead.

This will be the last newsletter before the first show so please make a note of the dates for your diary. There will also be a work party on the 24th April at 11.00am. We are looking forward to seeing you all again and wish you all the luck for this season. Please make use of the telephone numbers on the schedule; we are always here to answer any questions you may have.

Lesley - Chairman
